Mehiret Walga Woldemariam (Country Curator)

What inspired you to join STEMi Makers Africa?

I was able to realize my passion towards STEMi at a young age. And I greatly needed a mentor to satisfy my quest for it and use my creativity to solve societal problems. But I was not very successful in getting one due to the very limited science curriculum and poor economy of my country.  Additionally, the more I pursued my career the more I understood the importance of STEMi for Africa development & sustainability. With all this, I realized that it will take me many years to achieve what I wanted but only a few years to lead & make youngsters’ dreams come true. Thus I shifted my life purpose towards creating STEMi training opportunities for students and organizing means of making them entrepreneurs. And there can not be a better organization than STEMi Makers Africa that shares my dream to bring change throughout the continent.

What are you passionate about?

AI based Thermo-fluid research: I am passionate about the  fluid system that makes up more than 90% of our world and 70% of a human being. I love to code & run computational fluid dynamics analysis to investigate characteristics of fluid flow and exploit the potential of AI to solve complex fluid problems.

2. Ancient African legacy: I strongly believe that Africa is a pioneer of ancient scientific researches. And I am very passionate to read and investigate the lost sciences of Africa, especially ETHIOPIA.

3. Nature & life: I love to sit amidst beautiful natural landscapes and talk with myself about the purpose of life and satisfaction. –    STEAM & Innovation. I am also passionate about creativity, adaptation to new technologies and innovation. Specifically, educating school students about STEMi & machine design and working with them to solve real world problems is the best thing I love to do.
